As I have mentioned previously, I received a Mr. Beer Home Brew Kit this past Christmas. The first batch was recently polished off and it was time to make a new batch. I know that the kids would want to help, so I thought that it might be fun to bust out the video camera to document the moment.
The boys had so much fun during part one of the video that their sister left a brand new Fairly Odd Parents to take part in the brew process.
It’s a long video clocking in at just over 9 minutes, but there are some laughs to be had. My editing skills are slowly getting better, but still some rough patches. My oldest did a decent job with his first official camera work.

Worrisome development this morning….
I checked the keg when I got up today and noticed some moisture under it!
Hopefully it is from the process pouring it into the keg and that the keg hasn’t developed a leak after just one batch! I have dried if off and set it up on a cookie drying sheet with a piece of paper towel under it to see if there is indeed a leak.
I will up this to YouTube tonight for those who are flash 9 challenged.
Def a skill that will come in handy right around college time..
The kids had me hystercial though.. I loved their jokes..
Great job editing .. you really got this video stuff down..

Hmm, I think there may be some legal exposure here- better get Uncle Mike on retainer. Child labor laws?? Also, you can’t even serve a beer in a Mass. restaurant unless you are 21 – I am sure you aren’t supposed to be making beer at less than half that age.
John- excellent camera work! Much less shaky than your Dad’s early work.
Dude, you are so cool. Brewing with your kids. Sounds like something Michael would do.
Cool kids. Tell them I said so!

Where can we get helpers like that?? We’ve just spent the last 9 minutes gathered around the computer, transfixed by your video! It’s absolutely adorable — and very informative and accurate as well!! We love it
Such a treat — thanks so much!

Mr.Beer
too funny!!! I didn’t expect to be a hit at the Mr. Beer home office! Welcome guys!
Cool video! I did the Mr Beer thing back in college once. It didn’t taste too good, but man it was potent…a good time had by all.
Hope yours tastes better than ours did!
My favorite part is the “10 Minutes Later” and then your daughter comes in. She really does look like she left that Fairly Odd Parents episode b/c the action in the kitchen was way more fun (and seems to be saying, “okay, so what exactly is going on over here?”).
You have that Jim from “The Office” look going on (y’know when he looks into the camera as if to say, “Ah, yeah…”). It’s great!
Your videos just keep getting better!

Fun for the whole family!
I’m sure it is posted elsewhere, but how did it turn out?
Also, can you add your own flavors to it? I’m intrigued.

[...] The Mr. Beer video was and idea I had mentioned to the kids as a lark but my oldest really latched on to and was excited about. It probably was my most entertaining result of having the kids help product blog content to date. It was all done off the cuff and completely unplanned, even my son doing the opening riff to a Plain White T’s song at the end (which provided the perfect segue into end credits with music). What’s more the Mr. Beer people sent us a free Mr. Root Beer kit for the kids when they saw the video, so I guess there has been some semblance of ‘pay’. [...]
