I just put the tree up (I know a bit late in the game). Last year Fluffy, our 14 year old cat, had some ‘issues’ with the tree. There was some spraying and he eventually wound up on kitty Prozac.
He’s been off the meds for months now and after talking to a Vet friend we decided not to put him back on to try to avoid a problem. Last year there was the tree AND a new baby, perhaps it was too much for him. But he never had exhibited any problems in any other year, and this year the tree is in a new place and the baby has been around for 14 months.
No Prozac, but to help ensure there are no problems I did spray the tree and surrounding areas with Comfort Zone Spray (Which looking at the Amazon listing just now, I realize I spent way to much for at Petsmart last night! Grrrrrr).
Oh well. Here’s hoping that Fluffy has a peaceful, calm, stress free Christmas tree season!

There’s a diffuser system called Feliway that can help with cat behavior–it’s a synthetic version of the hormone cats secrete from their faces, the same one that is released when a cat rubs its face on something it likes.
It helped with my brother’s cats and toned down issues mine were having–could be it might help you? I ordered mine online and spent a lot less than I would have at Petsmart.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I saw the diffuser. The spray I bought has Feliway in it. Thanks. I don’t know that I will need the diffuser, but will definitely buy online if I do!

Hehe Fluffy could be Lilly’s brother. Our five year old cat looks kind of the same. Please don’t tell him though, don’t want him to think he looks like a girl
Just kidding.
We don’t have a tree so I don’t know how our cats would react. Best of luck with yours though. Keep us in the loop.

oh, he is constantly living with the ’she’ factor. The pink nose, pretty white fur. He doesn’t stand a chance.

I think it’s fair to say that many of your readers want to see Fluffy’s Christmas outtakes!

Thankfully there were no Christmas outtakes from Fluff. The tree is still up and he hasn’t done a thing wrong.
Johnny, they do give Prozac to cats - the same stuff that humans use. But this was another anti-anxiety drug he was on. Don’t recall exactly what it was.
