Project 365 // Day 184

184/365

My daughter hams it up a bit with a hydrangea bloom.

Oh, and if you say the post title correctly (a la Boston) it rhymes.

    Hydrangea Ranga, eh?

Can’t quite pull off a Baaston accent with my Canuck tongue…. can I?

Rupe figgered “highdrain’juh rain’juh” was the title of this blog.

Rupe thunked Bostonian when he read it.

    Bully! ……………… Rupe

Actually, this title exposes an interesting quirk: certain variations of the always-exquisite Boston accent (like mine) occasionally choose to add a subtle ‘r’ to the end of words that end in an ‘a’. Think ‘Cuba’ or ‘tuba’ or ‘idea’…

So in this case the Boston accent might in fact steal the ‘r’ from the ranger and give it to the hydrangea:

    “highdrain’jer rain’juh”

Many thanks to the dozens of helpful (and observant!) midwesterners who have pointed this out to me pretty much every day for the past 14+ years.

Is she the lone Hydranga Ranga in the household?

We have a huge old (50 years?)Hydranga bush in our backyard. We end up taking flowers to the all the neighbors just to thin it out. That is a solid flower as flowers go.
