One of the reasons I took on my Project 365 was to improve with the camera. I think I have.
When I started I signed up at the site for JPG Magazine to see what others were shooting, look at techniques and find inspiration. I didn’t submit anything to the site, didn’t feel anything of mine was worth it really. Not that I was bad, but some of that stuff people are sharing is incredible.
This past week I looked back through a few of the shots that I have taken that you all have said nice things about, or photos that I was particularly fond of and submitted a handful to JPG. I have gotten some nice comments there too.
Anyway, the idea of JPG is that is not just a photo sharing site, but a real live printed photo magazine comprised exclusively of user generated content. So while you can submit any old photo, they also have a theme for each print issue and the theme currently open for submissions is “Democracy“.
I went back through the photos I have taken this year and the one that says “Democracy” to me best is the following…
Flag bearing veterans, small town America, a parade of baseball playing youth, a dog. It’s sort of subtle in its “Democracy-ness” but I like it.

The photo that came up after I voted (yes, I could be bothered) was a picture of a knotted rope.
Either that one is way too deep for me or you entered your photo in the wrong category…

Yeah, I think that some people put any photo into the featured grouping just to get more eyes on it.
