Sports post, if it’s not your cuppa… move along.
I am a Red Sox fan. I don’t think that’s a secret. I am a Bostonian, I don’t think that’s much surprise either. So as you might imagine I spend a fair amount of time perusing the Red Sox pages over at boston.com. They are usually chock full of goodness, but what I found there the other day was too cool for school.
It’s an interactive, no a VERY interactive graphic detailing each of Red Sox slugger Manny Ramierez 496 (as of press time) home runs. You can click on the timeline, ballpark, pitcher, pitch count, or any of the dots on the screen (each dot representing a HR). When you click the graphic updates to show the refined search results.
This thing isn’t going to solve the hunger problem or help to find lasting peace in the Mideast, but I spent a good 30 minutes just clicking… “oh, who’s given up the most HRs to Manny at Fenway?” (Mike Mussina); “Who was it that gave up the massive bomb in Toronto?” (Chris Carpenter). Just good clean fun for a baseball fan nerd. Check it out.
