Opening Day (Little League Style) feat. Project 365 Days 85 & 86

April 27th, 2008 · 12 Comments · Photos, Project 365

Ain’t baseball grand?!?

Rockland Little League kicked off it’s playing season this weekend with a parade and a full slate of games at the Spring Street field complex.

The parade kicked off around 11:00 am Saturday morning and the boys and girls marched up from Jefferson School, up Union Street and down McKinley way to the High School fields.

(THIS IS PROJECT 365, Day 85)

The kids and coaches then assembled on the field at Memorial Stadium for a short program and kickoff to the season.

Then it was off to the fields for hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage, pizza……….

oh yeah and for games.

I have two boys in the program, my younger boy played Saturday afternoon, my oldest on Sunday evening. No results tracked in the Saturday game as it’s Farm League, but my oldest was able to taste the thrill of victory in his first ever game in the Majors.

Now, if the weather will cooperate both boys play again tomorrow night.

Go Rangers!
Go Phillies!

Love the idea of a parade through town, Rockland has the perfect main street for that too.

But - re: “No results tracked”… Oh come on, you know you were keeping score! You can’t fool me…

They sure take their youth sports serious where you’re at. I’ve never witnessed such pomp and circumstance for a Little League opener. I like it. Makes me want to move to a small town.
