Paci Fairy Update

April 18th, 2008 · 5 Comments · The Homefront

365-77 019Well, it’s been a week. Things could be worse. They could be better too, but overall I think the battle is going well, and for the most part it’s not even a battle anymore. She’ll still call out for ‘Ba’ when she gets tired, but even that is becoming less frequent.

The first 24 hours or so the paci was brought out once or twice around nap/bedtime. Aside from that it’s been totally cold turkey. As I mentioned in the original post, my wife takes the brunt of the trouble since I am not home at bedtime on weeknights but she’s a trooper.

What has happened is daily nap #2 has gone the way of the dinosaurs. I guess paci is a requirement for inducing that second nap. Makes my life a bit more hectic as I get ready for work each afternoon. Oh well, she wasn’t going to double dip on the naps forever anyway, so I know boo-hoo for me.

Just another of the ‘lasts’ in our house. The last time we will ween somebody off the paci. They keep piling up. I must be getting old.

Yeah, but next comes the even more frustrating job…potty training. Luckily you have been through it before.

Miss L has the very same paci! It is weird, you can see in their mouth while they’re sucking on it. Just weird man.

ps after busting your chops about not getting a Fenway Frank, I went to a baseball game (AAA) and neglected to get one. I blame the mass of middle schoolers for that.

Yeah!!!, It a hard habit to stop…kind of like smoking.

None of my children took a paci but I nursed them all….three of them stopped nursing at about a year and a half. Daughter number three stopped nursing at age two. The Morgan loved her boob and wasn’t giving it up at all. The child nursed until she was three. It was a nightmare trying to make her stop. She used to cry and cry and then throw up everywhere cause she was in so much distress. She used to say “pease, pease….” with huge crocodile tears.

Strange, our oldest gave up her nap at the same time paci (or ‘passy’, as we call it) went away. We waited until she was almost 3, though. :(

If you want to solve your paci problem check out the new book The Paci Fairy. It makes getting rid of the paci fun, simple and easy for kids. The book is wonderfully written, amazingly illustrated and endoresed by pedatricians and pediatric dentist.
