Project 365 // Day 143 v2.0

143/365 v2.0

Was a misty murky night as I left work last night so I though it might be a cool night to go see if I could find a nighttime shot. I went to Quincy Center and walked up to the Thomas Crane Library.

Took a bunch of shots and took a bunch more to do an HDR image, but was really unhappy with most everything. The sky was just not conducive to an HDR treatment, looked totally otherworldly. So I cropped one down and here you go. It’ll do.

I think I will return some clearer night.

My son, who chose which photo to use, thinks I should have named the post “Haunted Library” The photo he didn’t choose is below…

141/365 v2.0

Had a productive weekend with the camera, but with that comes the mess of sorting and processing all those shots. Didn’t help that I didn’t feel really right on Monday. I know you feel sooooo bad for me.

Project 365 // Day 139 v2.0

139/365 v2.0

Neighborhood 3-on-3 basketball tournament Saturday. 10 teams involved.

Sadly my team was done early after two losses. The eventual champions in maroon take on one of the other top teams in navy blue. The maroon had the only woman in the tourney. A hell of a player to be sure and not afraid to mix it up with the boys.

A good time was had by all and perhaps most importantly, no injuries to report. It was a bit of a wake up call for me though as I am still woefully out of shape. All the beer and burgers and sausage afterward was sure to help on that front though!

Hadn’t pointed the camera towards the feeders in quite a while. Saw plenty of goldfinch as usual, a male and female cardinal and this guy. Red Bellied Woodpecker. He was being shy and wouldn’t come to the other side of the feeder. Funny thing about Red Bellied Woodpeckers is that their bellies are not red. Go figure.

Yes, it’s too small. Yes, it’s my daughter’s. Yes, it’s a Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts wristband. But it’s green and has fitting sentiments on it… Courage, Confidence, Character.

In the grand scheme of things it’s meaningless, but it’s a small sign of solidarity with those standing tall in Iran.

What is happening there is pretty amazing. I thought the same thing 20 years ago about the goings on in Tiananmen Square. Here’s hoping that something more permanant and meaningful comes out of these events today.

Translation, from Sullivan’s Daily Dish,

Once again, you hear Allah-u-akbar!

One of the simplest ways for people to voice themselves collectively.

They might take our internet or even our telephones

But we will demonstrate our unitedness by? keep shouting Allah-u-akbar!

People are calling God.

Maybe He will hear their voices and be moved by them.

Defenseless people confronting violent thugs.

Defenseless people who are orchestrating a peaceful uprising.

Tonight they ask for His help.

Thankful to be where I am. Pulling for the Audacity of Hope that is taking root in Iran

Project 365 // Day 135 v2.0

135/365 v2.0

Sad, isn’t it?

I hadn’t picked up the camera all day, was driving home from work and saw a car in front of me that reminded me of What The Face. I decided to pop out the camera phone at a stop sign and see if I could capture the face-ness of it. I couldn’t. Camera phone was not up to the task. It was overpowered by the brake lights.

Got home started thinking about what else I could shoot around the house, sat/laid down to watch some TV and… the end, lights out, done. Woke up at 3:00am and went up to bed.

So you get the non-wtface cell phone photo. It’s the only photo I took yesterday.

But, if nothing if you hadn’t seen What The Face before you get that. It can be good for a few laughs, check it out.
