Virtual Waiting Rooms

Friday was the day that the Red Sox put tickets to the 9 Yankees games on sale.  In order to try for tickets you had to enter, and be chosen in a lottery.

I received an email earlier in the week letting me know I had been chosen.  The on-sale was to start at 12:00pm.  At 11:50am I tried the link provided by the team.  It was still telling me to come back at 12:00.   Being the impatient bugger I am, I went back at 11:55am and the waiting room was open.  “Cool” I though, “I got a jump”.  Then I notice that down at the bottom of the page it tells me that “as of 12:00PM 15Feb08” the following games have only singles, obstructed view or standing room available… and they listed 5 of the 9 games!

WTF!?  It wasn’t even 12:00pm yet and half the games are cooked?  Well, I spent over two hours in the waiting rooms, two browsers, multiple tabs/windows on two machines no luck yet.  At 1:00pm the message was updated to show that 7 of the games were all but sold out.  I feared that I was going to be shut out.  Life goes on.

At 2:15pm I actually got out of the waiting room and was offered the chance to buy tickets.  At this point only one game still had anything more than singles or obstructed view.  Sunday April 13.  The tickets I was able to purchase are last row, way out in right field.  That’s alright though.  It may be one of the best, worst seats in the Major Leagues.

So, I guess you can chalk this one up as a happy ending.

Dude, you gotta move to Ohio. You can get Indians tickets anytime. Of course, then you have to watch the Indians. It could be worse..

Still waiting for the Local 9 to put single game tix on sale for their first ever Sox series this June, but the owners are still trying to snooker us into buying 20 game packages.

Typically, there are enough empty seats to park a bus and all of its passengers into the stadium in June, but my guess is the brokers will buy this series all up in a snap and mark them up 100% or more.

    Fear The Nation!

And try to extort as much money out of The Nation as possible!
