Project 365 // Day 55

March 27th, 2008 · 10 Comments · Photos, Project 365

Today was one of those days where I just couldn’t be bothered to pick up the camera.  55 days in and I have probably had about three days like that.  I didn’t want to shoot.  So I didn’t. At one point when I was driving home from a Target run I was just shooting silly things with my cameraphone every time I came to a stop.  I thought I would have to use one of those for today’s picture.

Then, as I was getting ready for work, my elder daughter caught sight of a couple wild turkeys in our back yard.  She yelled, “Look, turkeys!”.  Once I realized that she wasn’t talking about something on the computer or television, I grabbed the camera and started shooting.  They didn’t come out great as I was inside shooting through a sliding glass door.  There were two birds, but I cropped one out so you could get a better look at the one below. If you really want to see more, you can click the picture and start looking through my flickr photstream.

We see turkeys once in a while in the general region, but never before in our backyard.

55/365

This makes two days in a row I post a picture of a bird.

A little while back my father was in the hospital, he’s out now, and there were tons of these wild turkeys hanging outside his window..they reminded me of Vultures and I told dad it was kinda creepy.

I think with all the construction going on they are being driven out of their natural habitats.

When I read your daughter’s comment - but before I scrolled down - I thought for sure your picture was going to be of your sons…

I did think about saying something like “it’s not the first time we’ve had turkeys playing in our swingset” or something along those lines!

Cool. I’ve never seen a wild turkey. I saw a roadrunner on our street once though.

Those wild turkeys can be BEASTS. One of them gave my dog the biggest lecture on the trial once!
