Peony Shoots

73/365

I transplanted these peonies from my parent’s old house when they moved out last year after 42 years in the same place.  A little slice of my childhood right in my backyard.

What a great idea! My parents just left their house after 32 years and they had a beautiful hydrangea that I loved. I didn’t take it- do you think the new owners would mind if I came and dug it up? Probably… I wish I read this before! I hope they are as beautiful for you as they always were and that they remind you of your childhood. I’m sure your parents appreciated the gesture as well…

Beautiful shot, what a great thing to have. I too, have seedlings from my parent’s garden. Although mine will never look as good as theirs…

    Magnificent shot. Very well done.

My parents have a potted plant (I don’t know what kind) that has been in the family for more than 20 years. It started on the pool deck of my grandmother when she lived in Redondo Beach in California. It’s now on the patio of my parent’s waterfront townhouse in New Bern, NC.

I am very glad to see the peonies like their new home….did you get/take the hydrangea too? Too bad the “Patrick Tree” was way too big to move - that is what really should have ended up at your place.

Explantory note for the “tens” of non-family readers: When PG was born a flowering tree (magnolia? cherry blossom? dogwood?) was planted in our front yard. It was always referred to as “The Patrick Tree” and grew up as big, tall, and beautiful as PG himself.

Hey PG. I’m with Kim. this may be my favorite of your photos thus far (and you’ve taken a lot of good ones). The colors and composition in this are magical.

Thanks all. Sometimes it’s the shots I don’t think are that amazing that get the biggest responses…

just gave the saturation a slight kick. the untouched is here….

I like taking shots from way down low. I am 6′5″ and the low shots are a treat for me!

The “Patrick Tree” is a dogwood.
The hydrangea stayed. As it was the peony was removed from the old homestead after closing, so I guess technically I stole it from the new owners.
