A few things I have rattling around my head but aren’t up to real post level.
- I keep coming across bands from Austin that make music I really like. I have really had a bit of a rebirth musically in the last several months and it seems that I keep ‘discovering’ bands out of Austin that really do it for me. Spoon, Okkervil River and now Voxtrot! Nice work Austin.
- Speaking of music, I don’t think I have posted about my favorite kids artist since my site went all bloggy. If you have kids from 0-9 or so, check out Justin Roberts. Music that the kids will love almost as much as the parents.
- Have trouble keeping track of the blog comments you have made? Wondering if anyone replied to something you said on somebody’s blog? Check out CoComment. Especially helpful if you use Firefox (and you should be).
- Another cool Austin export - Found Magazine. “We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids’ homework, to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles - anything that gives a glimpse into someone else’s life.”
OK, now I can use the spaces in my brain that were holding on to those thoughts. Maybe I will actually remember to do some laundry tomorrow now my noggin is not as full.

Yeah! I was thrilled with Voxtrot’s eponymous full length debut too!
And for your consideration, my Top-5 faves of this morning (subject to change by this afternoon, of course…)
–The Thrills: Irish popsters with irresistably fragile vocals , their latest, “Teenager”, is lyrical magic.
–Black Kids: Arcade Fire meets Hot Hot Heat meets early-60’s chord progressions.
–The Eames Era: Irresistably twee.
–MGMT: Played Letterman last week, though my inability to pull off late nights make it hard for me to prove…
–Maritime: been around for a few years, I know, but just starting to catch up with their addicitve hooks.
And a special shout-out to Band of Horses whose latest release may have even surpassed the magic of their previous work. Sweet!

Oh, but I am not. I am in Boston (a not so bad music town itself).

We saw Okkervil River at the FOUND magazine party last year at SXSW. Photos I took -
Okkervil River @ The Found Party
And this year Quirkee is throwing a joint party with FOUND magazine at SXSW! You should make a trip down to Austin in March.

Quirkee gets the assist on me finding out about Found. I saw the pics you speak of and said, “what’s Found?”
I would love to swing down for SXSW, but it’s not in the cards, not this year at least.

The Thrills aren’t hugely popular here, undoubtedly that’s part of the charm for me…
Still, I encourage you to embrace your Inner Sap for awhile as I do and give them another chance

Nice. Thanks for the Justin Roberts link. I think I’ve seen him on Noggin.
