My Fantasy football team is going to get smoked again. Not worth writing it up. So I thought I would share a story from earlier this summer. Something that must have been equally painful as fantasy football humiliation.
A few months ago, when summer was still young, John was out playing at a friend’s house. I believe they were playing pickle. John slid at one point and had a small branch jam into his shin. There was a fair bit of wood from the branch in the cut.
I thought at the time that it is almost worth seeing a doctor about. But I cleaned it out dressed it and sent him on his way.
A few weeks later the wound was not fully healed. John said it hurt more than it had and we also noticed that it was a oozing a bit of pus. We fiddled with it a bit, but some antibacterial ointment on it and redressed it.
A week later or so and no better so we decided a trip to the doc’s was in order. We showed up, they poked around pushed, expressed some puss, prodded with a syringe and a pair of tweezers. A small bit of branch came out and John said he could feel the relief almost instantly. That must have been the culprit. I was surprised it was so small.
A few weeks later and still the wound had not fully healed. It was still a oozing a little, also John wouldn’t let us fiddle with it because it was too painful. So again I called the doctor’s office.
When we showed up they kept looking at us funny. I couldn’t figure out why. Finally the nurse calls us in and asked how John got a branch lodged into his CHIN. I laughed, no it was his SHIN. Once that was cleared up, they did roughly the same thing as last time.
Not much coming out so they shot John’s shin, not his chin, with some Lidocane or something similar and really went in after it.
After a few minutes they pulled out a splinter from the branch. I guess the piece of wood had a nice summer vacation inside John’s leg and time was to say good-bye.
Here is a pic of the splinter….

John sounds like a pretty tough little guy! But how did the penny end up in his shin? Did it also get lodged in there during that game of pickle?

Wow, He let you dig around in there? My kids run screaming down the road and hide for a week if we even touch a pair of tweezers..
Sorry about all the comments, but I am getting caught up on your blog.. So deal with it. LOL
