Ray, people will come, Ray. They’ll come to annoyinglyboring.com for reasons they can’t even fathom. They’ll turn up your homepage, not knowing for sure why they’re doing it. They’ll arrive at your site as innocent as children, longing for the posts. “Of course, we won’t mind if you have a look around,” you’ll say. “It’s only twenty comments per person.” They’ll pass over the comments without even thinking about it; for it is thoughts to share they have and peace they lack.
And they’ll click out to the archives, and sit in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon. They’ll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the blogrolls, where they sat when they were bored and read their heroes. And they’ll read the words, and it’ll be as if they’d dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, they’ll have to brush them away from their faces.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been communication. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But communication has marked the time. This forum, this medium, is a part of our future, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again. Ohhhhhhhh, people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come.
I have been truly blown away at how many of you great people have turned out to read my musings. They are occasionally funny, sometimes entertaining, often unspectacular. But, you keep turning up. It makes me smile.
I don’t know why I care. I don’t need visitors, I was doing this for a while before anyone showed up and was perfectly happy just writing to nobody. There are no ads, so that’s not it. But I do care. It has really started to matter. I get a genuine kick out of people showing up and chiming in on my most recent drivel.

Starting February 2 I will start something else that, hopefully, will keep you coming back for more. I am going to undertake a Project 365. I will be doing it mostly for me. But yes, more content for you. I hope you enjoy it. I just hope to get better at taking pictures, maybe even grow a bit, opening my eyes to new possibilities. I encourage any and all of you to consider doing the same. I don’t know that it will be a positive experience, but it will be an experience.
So, I say, “Thanks!”, you have made this an incredible start to my blogging life. And stay tuned, there is much more to come.

It’s no surprise to see your popularity exploding: I can say with confidence that, of the blogs I visit each and every day, yours is easily in my Top-50.
Project 365 sounds fun - can’t wait for more grainy pictures of cars idling at redlights on rainy nights and shots of dimly lit mantles.

Hey, congratulations! I’m just trying to rebuild my readership from my ill-fated foray into self-hosting. Not going to try THAT again any time soon.
