Project 365 // Day 138 v2.0
Hadn’t pointed the camera towards the feeders in quite a while. Saw plenty of goldfinch as usual, a male and female cardinal and this guy. Red Bellied Woodpecker. He was being shy and wouldn’t come to the other side of the feeder. Funny thing about Red Bellied Woodpeckers is that their bellies are not red. Go figure.
Project 365 // Day 30 v2.0
At least I think it’s a Northern Harrier.
Also known as the Marsh Hawk, this hawk was about 40 feet from me when I spied her (I think it’s a female) and pulled over. By the time I had my camera ready she had flown high into a tree. This shot taken from a few hundred feet with an effective focal length of just over 400mm.
Project 365 // Day 355
I have been taking so many shots of the birds lately (and those feeding the birds), that I thought I’d share my little set up. I don’t always use the tripod, but it can come in handy to capture real quick some of the guys who do drive-bys to the feeder. I am still waiting to get a good shot of a Nuthatch. The Windex is always nearby.
Project 365 // Day 354

My oldest was out filling the feeders today and after the mixed seed feeder was full he dumped the rest on the ground for the doves and juncos. What a guy.

Project 365 // Day 350
More bird photos today – It was too cold to go out shooting, so shooting through the kitchen window worked well.
Project 365 // Day 348
Sitting atop the feeder stand in my backyard. Shot through my kitchen window, along with a few others. I loved the texture in the feathers on this one.
Project 365 // Day 200
Made a trip to Hanson Grain, a local feed store, to get some more bird seed. The feeders have been empty for too long.
Project 365 // Day 201
All that swing action can wear a girl out. She was tired when I put her in, she was having trouble settling in for [...]

Today was one of those days where I just couldn’t be bothered to pick up the camera. 55 days in and I have probably had about three days like that. I didn’t want to shoot. So I didn’t. At one point when I was driving home from a Target run I was just shooting silly [...]
the background (all those leaves) says fall, but the goldfinches starting to yellow up scream out SPRING!
