“W8 Loss Wednesday” Episode 13

March 26th, 2008 · 16 Comments · Video, W8 Loss Wednesday

Weekly weigh-in with a quick chat about the week. Have toyed with the idea of renaming the offering “Weight M8tenance Wednesdays” since I am not really losing anymore, but not yet anyway.Music by Jack Peñate this week. Check him out.

Not sure where this video series is headed next. I hope it’s not getting stale. I have tried in the last few weeks to spice things up by featuring (mostly) new music that has caught my ear in the last week. If you my loyal viewers have ideas on what might keep it fun and interesting, sound off. I’d love to hear what you have to say, either in comments or email me.

Hey, I like those biodegradable bags. Why doesn’t our town use those? D’oh!

Let’s see… how to spice up the series? Why don’t you show us some classic or historical New England landmarks as a backdrop to your conversation. Surely you have some of those around there.

The whole idea of jogging strikes me as the most boring activity known to man. Yet i really enjoy walking. Odd.

    3 observations:
    1) you have a yard to envy!! space like that is reserved for celebrities out here in LA.
    2) you must have the randomest sock collection with all the worded socks you’ve used over the past months.
    3) If anyone was at the dump, you must’ve looked like a nut, talking to your car.

You are not stale. I enjoy these little videos. I think you have charisma which is what I need to work on in my videos. I don’t like to run either. I exercise in my room before I turn in for the night…and I am learning to belly dance. It’s harder than it looks. Hey, that might be an activity you might like. :)

The way you chuck those lawn bags is admirable! I’d think you would build up some muscle mass doing that for sure!

Please do NOT cancel the W8 Loss Wednesday Series - after learning that CBS has canceled Jericho, this is all I have.

As for a new idea, how about a simple twist on this week’s episode - instead of bringing your trash to the dump, throw it into your neighbor’s yard. Keep the cameras rolling, and watch the wacky hijinks unfold!

@Jeff - The bags are available all over the place, I got those one as Home Depot. I suppose I could take the show on the road and do some interesting locals… but then it becomes a big to do and it would be harder to be a one man show. The think about these is I am able to just throw them together quick and dirty. But it’s a valid idea. I definitely want to do more vids and perhaps taking the camera into the big city would be fun.

@Dan - funny you mention that. I edited out me saying that I could go walking because I thought it sounded funny saying it right after I said jogging is boring!

@BD - 1. we have a quarter acre. It’s not huge, but it’s a nice yard and I bet that in many places it would be damn near farmland! 2. the socks get taped then I write on the tape (subject of project 365 picture #5) & 3. I was alone… why do you think I kept looking around!

@marsha - thanks - don’t think I am captain charisma - but thanks. Oooooh. I think I will leave the belly dancing for you!

@momo - they bags weren’t that heavy, but thanks. That is part of the reason I want to get down to 210. I don’t want to stay there - but make that a baseline and hopefully put on a few pounds of muscle.

@rick - “this is all I have” . I could not be more sorry! I may involve my neighbor in future videos, but I reckon the involvement will be on the up and up.

I loved the video, I think the dump was great…Maybe you could get a road detail in the background of your next one..you know cops just standing around making some nice cash for doing little or nothing, Also the scenic idea from another comment was a good idea…Keep this up I like em.

Marsha is right. There is a charisma there. Wait, that sounds a little weird coming from a guy. Forget that I said that. But keep the videos coming.

Oh, I agree with other commenters. Keep ‘em coming!

I have some ideas for you, though:
Re: running is boring (I agree!!)
The way you throw those garbage bags … looks like you’d probably shoot some sweet baskets. Why not look for some kind of basketball league in your area? When my hubby did that he had tons of fun. Great cardiovascular workout!

    Re: the show
Aw, you seem a little sad, PG, if you don’t mind my saying so…what about dumping the whole w8 loss/w8 maintenance premise and just calling it Annoyingly Boring TV (as you already do)? But I mean just call the show Annoyingly Boring?
I could see you interviewing people on the street. Maybe have a topic each week, then go and ask all sorts of people about that topic (and you could work in the historic sites idea that someone else mentioned - interview people in front of some of them).
You’ve got the editing down, so that should be pretty easy for you and I bet it’d be fun for you, too.

    Just my $.02.

    Keep that charisma coming!!

I agree, take the show on the road. I say you give Mr. Scale a rest and go into some store and try out different types of scales. Just like your socks are always different, you can have different scales.

And quit caring what other people think while your filming. So what if they think you’re crazy, you are, so what, you’ll (most likely) never see them again. Crazy is cool.

Love the location shoot. Be careful, I usually eat too much at the craft services table when on location.

We have a saying, there are no boring runs, just boring runners. After the pain and discomfort of the first week goes away, running can be fun/peaceful/meditative/liberating. I suggest you give it two weeks. Running is often like the rosary. It’s not the act per se, it’s getting lost in the act sometimes.

As for bad knees—strong quads help bad knees. The knee is a weak joint by design but it is surrounded by strong muscles that can support its function.

With no lifting and no cardio, you lost two major weight burners and still lost weight. Combine diet/cardio/weight training and you can go for Fitter at 36. Weight training with large muscle groups like the quads, shoulders, etc., burns as well as builds. You won’t bulk up so much that the scale becomes a problem. But 215 with muscle beats a leaner 210.
