What Would Jesus Do?

Oh boy. A post about religion. Don’t anyone get offended….

I work evenings. It is, in part, because of this my wife and I don’t get many chances to go out. What’s more, when we do usually the kids are in tow. I work in the investment field. The New York Stock Exchange is closed on Good Friday. When the NYSE has a day off, I have the night off from work….

Now I was raised Catholic, but started going to my wife’s church when we were married. Our church is not as strict about the whole abstinence and fasting thing as the Catholic church. So I sensed an opening…

I asked my wife if she thought we would be bad people/Christians if we went out on a date on Good Friday. Went out for a nice dinner and adult conversation.

She initially said “Yes”, but then thought about it and said, “No. Hey, Jesus went out to dinner on Good Friday!”

It has yet to be determined if we will go out on that night.

Oh, if you are getting a feeling of Deja Vu you probably read Keep Believing. I had a comment about this very topic over there earlier. The more I thought about it the more I realized it was a good topic for a post of my own.

I’ve prayed about it and heard loud and clear from the Big J-t0-the-E-to-the-SUS that he INFACT wants you to go out and enjoy your night with a lovely dinner. He also said that you need to buy her flowers (lilies are nice this time of year with the holy holiday)!

I haven’t looked at it that way before. Jesus did go out to eat on Good Friday (of course it wasn’t known as Good Friday yet, was it?). The wife is Catholic, so we do the no meat on Friday thing (fish and chips this week).

As to my vote, go out and have conversations that don’t revolve around quieting the children.

the agnostic says, “what’s good friday?”

For JESUS’ sake!!! Hire a babysitter, and make it a HOT DATE!! That’s what Jesus would want.

Jesus actually went out to dinner on Holy Thursday. He didn’t live through Good Friday. Still, I say go for it.
