Happy Squared Date Day!

threesquared3×3=09

Yup.

That’s all.

We’ll have a chance like this again in 7 years 1 month and 1 day. If we start making plans now perhaps we have a real blowout of a square party!

Alright, get to it. Start planning!

Update… Apparently it’s “Square Root Day” a semi-organized thing. Darned if I knew. But I think it’s silly to call it Square Root Day. It’s not 9/3/03. But that’s just me.

  1. Square Root Day is not, at its roots, an American celebration; its origins instead trace to a global convention of elite mathematicians which ended on August 8, 1964 (note, the convention was intended to run from August 5-7, though some unfinished business extended the gathering through the afternoon of Saturday, August 8th)

The convention – and the ensuing, impromptu evening festivities which marked the 8th of August – were held in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, a small municipality in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium.

Of course, as in most European countries, it is common to list the date in the YYMMDD format – thus, ‘Square Root Day’, and not ‘Squared Day’ became the defacto designation for calendar dates such as today.

Enjoy what’s left of the big day!
