Project 365 // Day 81 v2.0
If you know me, or have followed my blog for any time, you know I have an ‘inexplicable affinity for things Australian’.
For Christmas a couple years back Santa left a Koala in my stocking. See, even Santa knows about my ‘Inner Aussie’. When it came to name the Koala, there was one name that jumped to the fore…. Bradman.
Why “Bradman”?
Simple…
Think Michael Jordan.
Think Wayne Gretzky.
Think Babe Ruth.
Think Joe Montana.
Then multiply by 10.
Sir Donald Bradman was the greatest cricketer, and the greatest Australian sportsman ever.
You don’t have to know cricket (and I don’t really know cricket) to appreciate this…. He is the only Australian cricketer to receive a knighthood for services to the game of cricket. English and Australian Cricket are like Yankees and Red Sox, Giants and Dodgers, Auburn and Alabama, UNC and Duke. Imagine Ted Williams getting his number retired in Yankee Stadium.
Yeah.
Here’s a video of Bradman in action, accompanied by the Paul Kelly song:

I’m assuming that in those baseball comparisons one of the teams is massively inferior to the other. As the Australians are much better at cricket than us, despite our wishes otherwise.
I have Australian citizenship myself you know, as my mother is an aussie.
