Project 365 // Day 205 v2.0
I hadn’t taken any photos so I decided to head out to our sleepy downtown to see what I could capture. I drove up and down the main drag and decided that the war memorial would be a decent subject. I set up to shoot it a bit.
As I was shooting a work crew arrived to work on Union Street, the above referenced main drag, right next to where I was set up. After a couple minutes I realized why they were there. They were painting the crosswalks.
Painting the crosswalks just as school is about to resume next week.
Giving them a special local flair.
I knew I could have a story behind my shot if I walked the 20 feet to ask them if they would mind if I documented their work for a few minutes, maybe collect a few names and ask a couple questions.
I couldn’t work up the nerve. It was like they were wielding green kryptonite rather than rollers and brushes.
The best I could do is take a quick shot of them working from the other side of the street.
Defeated by my own lameness, I walked up the street to capture a crosswalk they had done days before got back in my care and drove home.
