Morning Steam (245/365 v2.0)

Project 365 // Day 245 v2.0

245/365 v2.0 (by Pat Glennon)

The photo doesn’t really present the scene as it was seen. There were massive amounts of steam coming off the houses in my neighborhood when the sun popped out Sunday morning.

I knew when I took it the photo wasn’t going to do it justice, yet I couldn’t be bothered to shoot anything else either.

Shoot, post, move on. Some days are like that.

  1. I tried a similar shot recently — it was steam rising off a wet driveway after a rain… And was similarly disappointed. Wish I knew how to make it work… Is it because the light is too strong? Would a polarizer help do you think? Or some other filter…?

  2. I recently tried to capture steam coming up off a lake first thing in the morning but didn’t quite get it either. I used a circular polarizer filter to see if that would help and it did a little but not enough so it was representative of the actual scene.

Keep us posted if you figure out how to capture the elusive steam 🙂
