Faceless Moon (246/365 v2.0)

Project 365 // Day 246 v2.0

246/365 v2.0 (by Pat Glennon)

Problem with shooting the moon is that it throws off so much light. If you want the moon exposed correctly, you lose the rest of the scene. If you want the scene exposed at all you blow the moon out.

I actually was going to take a properly exposed moon that I shot seconds before and superimpose into this image but decided to let the image as it was stand.

Also, in the time that it took me to run down to my car and get my tripod, get back up stairs and set up the moon ‘shrunk’ noticeably. I love how large the full moon looks as it is rising, it’s still impressive here but moments before it looked insanely ginormous.

  1. The moon has been so amazing the past few nights. I have noticed it while I am in my car, looming very large over the horizon. But when I finally get home, it’s already risen higher and looking smaller… Travelling with a tripod sounds like a good idea!
